The Tribal Police Department strives to maintain a positive presence in our community.  Officers and staff are involved each year in the Community Christmas Program, the Earth Day Celebration, the annual Safety Fair, the annual Pow Wows, and other community events.

DEFENSIVE DRIVING COURSE
The Tribal Police Department has employees certified to teach the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Defensive Driving Course.  This course teaches skills to improve safety and reduce risks we all assume everyday when we get behind the wheel.  Upon completion of the course, participants may be eligible for a discount on their personal auto insurance.  Watch the PBPN News, the PBPNation website and community bulletin boards for course times and dates.

RABIES CLINIC
Each spring we sponsor a Rabies Clinic where reservation residents may bring their animal for free rabies vaccination and flea & tick dip.  Dr. Tim Parks of Heartland Veterinary Clinic performs the vaccination and always has a supply of other standard vaccinations available for purchase.

HUNTER SAFETY EDUCATION
Each spring and fall, The Tribal Police Department conducts Hunter Safety Education courses.  Courses are 10 hours of instruction usually spread over a Saturday and Sunday.  Classes are generally limited to those over 12 years of age and class size is limited to allow for more individual attention.  Hunter Safety Education provides gun safety, overview of hunting laws (both state and tribal), general hunting practices and other topics at the request of participants.  Those interested in attending a class should watch the PBPN News, the PBPNation Website and reservation bulletin boards for course announcements.

ESCORTS
At times our agency is requested to escort funeral processions.  A service we are willingly to provide even on short notice.  Should your family need an escort please contact the Tribal Police Department at (785) 966-3024 or toll free at (877) 727-6743.  Should the procession be leaving the reservation, Tribal Police Personnel will coordinate with other jurisdictions to accommodate the procession.

HOUSE WATCHES/CHECKS
Often times we are called upon to watch or check on a house while the owner is away.  This is a service we are happy to provide with notice from the owner/resident.  Owners/residents may request the watch by calling or stopping by and providing information about the location of the requested watch, length of the watch, any persons or vehicles permitted while the owner/resident is away and a contact number where he/she may be contacted or another person to contact if we find something out of the ordinary.
